Your step-by-step guide to creating a Facebook ad account
Setting up a Facebook Ad Account is the first step to running successful ad campaigns for your business.
With a properly configured account, you’ll be able to manage your ads, control spend, and track performance all in one place. Follow this step-by-step guide to create your ad account and get ready to launch your first campaign.
Create your ad account:
Step 1: Log in to Your Facebook Account
Visit facebook.com and log in with your credentials.
Ensure you’re using a Facebook account that is linked to your business or one you wish to connect to the ad account.
Step 2: Access Facebook Business Manager
Go to business.facebook.com.
If you don’t already have a Business Manager account, follow the prompts to create one by selecting ‘Create Account’ and entering the necessary business details.
Step 3: Navigate to ‘Business Settings’
Once in Business Manager, click ‘Business Settings’ in the upper right-hand corner.
In the left-hand sidebar, find ‘Accounts’ and select ‘Ad Accounts’.
Step 4: Create a New Ad Account
Click on the ‘Add’ button.
You’ll see three options: ‘Add an Ad Account’, ‘Request Access to an Ad Account’, and ‘Create a New Ad Account’.
Select ‘Create a New Ad Account’.
Step 5: Enter Ad Account Details
Fill in the name of the ad account—use a descriptive name to make it easily recognisable.
Select the time zone (make sure it aligns with your business operations, typically GMT or BST for the UK).
Choose your currency (GBP).
Click ‘Next’.
Step 6: Assign Your Business to the Ad Account
Select ‘My business’ to indicate ownership of the ad account.
Click ‘Create’.
Step 7: Assign Permissions
Add users from your Business Manager (including yourself) and assign them roles such as ‘Admin’, ‘Advertiser’, or ‘Analyst’.
Choose the appropriate access level and click ‘Assign’.
Step 8: Set Up Your Payment Method
Navigate to ‘Ad Account Settings’ and choose ‘Payment Settings’.
Click ‘Add Payment Method’ and enter your payment details. Common UK payment options include debit or credit cards and PayPal.
Ensure the payment method is valid and matches your business information.
Step 9: Verify Your Ad Account (If Required)
Facebook may ask for additional verification to confirm your identity or business details.
Follow the prompts to upload any necessary documents, such as proof of business address or identity verification.
Step 10: Start Creating Your Ads
With your ad account set up and payment method confirmed, go to ‘Ads Manager’ and click ‘Create’ to begin setting up your first advertising campaign.
Voila!
