The Need
With the recognition that a refreshed website, captivating collateral, and revamped menus was needed, Strike sought the expertise of Lala Comms. The goal was to harmonise their communications, create a cohesive brand identity, and authentically portray the unique and lively personality that defines the venue.
The Journey
Phase 1:
Immersion and Exploration - At the project's outset, we immersed ourselves in understanding Strike's brand and essence. Through extensive discussions with the Strike team, we gained insights into values, aspirations, and presentation goals. Combining our research with the Strike team and externally on their desired vintage and Victorian aesthetic, we developed Pinterest mood boards, aligning with Strike's vision.
Phase 2:
Fusion of Mood Boards and Existing Assets - Leveraging insights from mood board analysis, we merged Pinterest-inspired mood boards with Strike's existing assets. This identified enhancement opportunities while preserving the brand's uniqueness. This was a solid foundation for the following creative steps, ensuring the brand direction remained authentic to Strike's identity, known as being tongue in cheek, quirky and vintage.
Phase 3:
Colour Palette Evolution - Amplified Strike's brand identity hinged on a revamped colour palette. Drawing from the venue's colours we expanded the palette with diverse hues. For instance, the bronze shade from beer tanks and various browns reflecting furnishings were thoughtfully incorporated. This strategic use of colours deepened the brand's connection with its physical space.
Phase 4:
New Brand Direction - We then created initial brand guidelines, infusing Strike's colour palette and visual elements. Drawing inspiration from the venue and existing assets, we developed a mood board, using Victorian posters as a key design influence.
Phase 5:
Illustration and Collateral Creation - Guided by refined brand guidelines, we crafted visual assets in line with Strike's desired ambiance. A key part of this was intricately developed illustrations inspired by venue patterns, such as bar details, beer glasses, cocktails, and games. By translating these patterns into illustrations, we maintained a personalised touch in the collateral and helped all aspects of the venue shine through the brand.
Phase 6:
Asset Creation - With this we began Strike’s website's design to not only mirror the vintage and Victorian vibe but also provided an intuitive navigation experience for visitors. Then Lala redeveloped all existing collateral, including brochures, posters and importantly, their intricate menus. We created a drinks menu which contained illustratio ns using their cocktails, glasses and bar visuals to make it completely bespoke to their brand.
